Infosys does not publish a fresher CTC figure. What can be pinned down exactly is which parts of any CTC are not monthly salary at all, and what your first payslip looks like during training and probation. Every rule below is from a primary government source.
Quick snapshot
- Infosys fresher CTC: not published in any official Infosys document. Any exact figure you read elsewhere is unverified.
- Not monthly salary: employer PF share, gratuity provision, insurance premium and any variable or retention component.
- Income tax at fresher pay: nil — salary income up to ₹12,75,000 is untaxed for a salaried person.
- PF applies from day one of employment, including during training, at 12% of PF wages.
- EPF wage ceiling: ₹25,000 a month since 17 September 2026, up from ₹15,000.
- An appointment letter is now mandatory under the Labour Codes in force since 21 November 2025.
There is no official Infosys fresher salary figure, so the useful question is not "what is the CTC" but "how much of the CTC is monthly cash". A CTC number bundles items that never reach your bank: the employer's provident fund contribution, the gratuity provision, group insurance premiums, and in many structures a variable or performance component paid later and conditionally. Strip those out and you get gross pay. Take off your own 12% PF and professional tax and you get in-hand. Income tax is almost certainly nil, because a salaried person pays nothing on salary income up to ₹12,75,000.
What Infosys publishes, and what it does not
Infosys is a listed company. It publishes audited financial statements, headcount, attrition and segment results every quarter. None of those documents state a starting pay band for a Systems Engineer, a Digital Specialist Engineer or any other fresher role.
That is not unusual. No large Indian IT employer publishes fresher CTC. It is treated as commercially sensitive and it varies by role, test score, location and joining year.
So where do the figures online come from? Crowd-sourced self-reports, screenshots and other blogs repeating each other. Some will be close. Some are several years stale. There is no way for a reader to tell which, which is why this page does not print one. The only figure that binds Infosys is the annexure attached to your own offer letter.
The parts of a CTC that are not monthly salary
This is where most of the confusion between a quoted package and a bank credit comes from. A CTC is an annual cost to the employer, not an annual payment to you.
| CTC component | Reaches your bank monthly? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Basic pay and dearness allowance | Yes | Also the base used to compute PF |
| HRA and other allowances | Yes | Subject to the 50% wage rule below |
| Employer PF contribution | No | Goes to your EPF and pension accounts, not your bank |
| Gratuity provision | No | A provision against future liability |
| Group medical or life insurance premium | No | Paid to the insurer |
| Variable, performance or retention pay | No | Paid later, often conditional on performance or tenure |
If a package is quoted to you verbally, ask specifically which of these rows it includes. Two offers with the same CTC headline can differ meaningfully in monthly cash.
Your first payslip: training and probation
Freshers often expect the training period to be unpaid or differently taxed. The statutory position is simpler than the rumours.
Provident fund coverage attaches to employment, not to confirmation. If you are an employee on the payroll, PF applies from day one, including during training and probation. Probation affects notice period and confirmation-linked benefits under your contract; it does not switch off statutory social security.
Professional tax also applies from the first month, and the amount depends on the state you are posted in, not on Infosys. Some states do not levy it at all.
Check this in month one. Compare your first payslip line by line against your annexure. If PF is missing, if the basic figure differs, or if a component you were promised is absent, raise it with HR immediately. Corrections are far easier in the first month than at year end.
Why your income tax is nil, and the AY 2026-27 slabs
Under the new tax regime these are the slab rates published by the Income Tax Department for assessment year 2026-27.
| Taxable income | Tax |
|---|---|
| Up to ₹4,00,000 | Nil |
| ₹4,00,001 – ₹8,00,000 | 5% above ₹4,00,000 |
| ₹8,00,001 – ₹12,00,000 | ₹20,000 + 10% above ₹8,00,000 |
| ₹12,00,001 – ₹16,00,000 | ₹60,000 + 15% above ₹12,00,000 |
| ₹16,00,001 – ₹20,00,000 | ₹1,20,000 + 20% above ₹16,00,000 |
| ₹20,00,001 – ₹24,00,000 | ₹2,00,000 + 25% above ₹20,00,000 |
| Above ₹24,00,000 | ₹3,00,000 + 30% above ₹24,00,000 |
A salaried person then deducts a standard deduction of ₹75,000 under Section 16(ia). A resident individual also gets a rebate under Section 87A of up to ₹60,000, available while taxable income does not exceed ₹12,00,000. Together that puts the zero-tax line at ₹12,75,000 of salary income, which is well above any fresher offer in Indian IT.
This is why your payslip shows no TDS. It is not an error and it is not something your employer chose.
PF from day one: 12% and the ₹25,000 ceiling
Provident fund is the deduction that actually changes your monthly number. The statutory split does not vary by employer.
| Contributor | Rate | Destination |
|---|---|---|
| You | 12% of wages | Your EPF account |
| Employer | 8.33% of wages | Employees' Pension Scheme |
| Employer | 3.67% of wages | Your EPF account |
| Central Government | 1.16% | Pension fund |
The wage ceiling for mandatory EPFO coverage rose from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 a month with effect from 17 September 2026, the first change since September 2014. The government estimated more than 51 lakh additional formal-sector workers would be brought under mandatory coverage.
At 12%, a PF wage of ₹25,000 means a ₹3,000 monthly deduction. Your in-hand drops by that amount and your EPF balance rises by more, because the employer's 3.67% lands in the same account. It is deferred pay, not a deduction you lose.
The Labour Codes: your appointment letter and the 50% rule
The four Labour Codes — the Code on Wages 2019, the Industrial Relations Code 2020, the Code on Social Security 2020 and the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code 2020 — took effect on 21 November 2025, rationalising 29 earlier labour laws.
Two provisions matter directly to a fresher. First, an appointment letter is mandatory, so you are entitled to your terms in writing rather than a verbal package figure. Second, under the Code on Wages, if excluded pay-outs such as HRA, conveyance, bonus, overtime or commission together exceed 50% of total remuneration, the excess is added back into "wages".
Why the 50% rule is in your favour. Structuring a salary with a very small basic and large allowances used to shrink PF, gratuity and leave encashment. The uniform definition closes that. A larger wage base means a larger PF credit and a larger eventual gratuity, even if the monthly figure looks slightly smaller.
What to ask HR before you sign
Ask for the written annexure with basic, allowances, employer PF and any variable component shown as separate lines.
Ask what proportion of the CTC is variable or retention pay, when it is paid, and what conditions apply.
Ask for the work location, because professional tax and your actual cost of living both depend on it.
Confirm PF applies from the joining date, including through any training period.
Check the notice period and any bond or service agreement, and what it costs to exit early.
None of these questions are unusual and asking them does not put an offer at risk. A company that will not put its own terms in writing is telling you something useful.
What is the Infosys fresher salary in 2026?
Infosys does not publish a fresher CTC in any official document, so there is no verified figure to quote. The binding number is the annexure attached to your own offer letter. What is certain is the statutory treatment: income tax is nil at fresher pay levels and provident fund is deducted at 12% of PF wages.
How much of my CTC actually reaches my bank?
Not the employer PF contribution, the gratuity provision, insurance premiums, or any variable and retention component. Those are real costs to the company but they are not monthly salary. Basic, dearness allowance and other allowances are what form gross pay, and your in-hand is gross minus your own PF, professional tax and any TDS.
Is PF deducted during the training period?
Yes. Provident fund coverage attaches to employment, not to confirmation. If you are on the payroll, PF applies from your joining date including through training and probation. Probation affects notice period and contract-linked benefits, not statutory social security.
How much income tax will I pay as an Infosys fresher?
Nil. A salaried person pays no income tax on salary income up to ₹12,75,000, because of the ₹75,000 standard deduction under Section 16(ia) and the Section 87A rebate of up to ₹60,000 available while taxable income stays at or below ₹12,00,000.
What changed with the EPF wage ceiling?
It rose from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 a month with effect from 17 September 2026, the first revision since September 2014. At 12%, a PF wage of ₹25,000 means a ₹3,000 monthly employee contribution. The government estimated over 51 lakh additional workers would come under mandatory coverage.
Do I have to be given an appointment letter?
Yes. The four Labour Codes, effective 21 November 2025, make an appointment letter mandatory. If you have only a verbal package figure, ask for the written terms before you join.
What is the 50% wage rule in the Code on Wages?
If excluded pay-outs such as HRA, conveyance allowance, bonus, overtime or commission together exceed 50% of total remuneration, the excess is added back into wages. That raises the base used for provident fund, gratuity and leave benefits, which works in the employee's favour over time.
Should I trust Infosys salary figures on other websites?
Treat them as unverified. Infosys has published no fresher pay band, so those numbers come from self-reports that may be stale or wrong. Use them for rough orientation at most, never as the basis for a loan, a rent agreement or a relocation decision.
