What is the difference between Legal Heir Certificate and Succession Certificate?
A Legal Heir Certificate is issued by the Tahsildar through MeeSeva and identifies who the legal heirs are. A Succession Certificate is issued by a court and is required for larger property disputes or when the legal heirs are contested. For most routine claims, Legal Heir Certificate is enough.

Yes. Legal Heir Certificate with Death Certificate is the standard requirement for closing or transferring a deceased person's bank account, fixed deposits, and savings to the legal heirs. Some banks may also ask for a self-declaration from all heirs and an indemnity bond for larger amounts.
How long does it take to get Legal Heir Certificate in AP and Telangana?
Generally 15 to 30 working days after submission and field verification. The VRO visits and verifies the family members at the residence. After verification the Tahsildar approves and the certificate is issued. Apply early if you need it for a bank claim, pension, or property transfer deadline.
EPF / PF claim కోసం Legal Heir Certificate కావాలా?
For EPF claims after the death of a member, if a nominee is registered with EPFO, the nominee can directly claim without Legal Heir Certificate. However if no nominee was registered or if the nominee is also deceased, Legal Heir Certificate is required along with the Death Certificate to process the EPF claim for the legal heirs.
