Key Responsibilities

  • Define and perform trade-off studies across multiple RGB camera designs to meet system constraints.
  • Partner with optical, electrical, process, controls, sensing, test, and mechanical teams to integrate camera hardware into products.
  • Lead offshore manufacturing partners on camera design evaluation, prototype builds, and qualification.
  • Drive failure analysis and corrective actions at manufacturing sites (assembly, testing, calibration) and remotely.
  • Analyze parametric data for end-of-line yield and post-reliability failures; implement improvements.
  • Evaluate and debug camera hardware at module and product levels for camera/depth design and integration.
  • Document camera-specific design, test, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Travel internationally (up to 20%) to supplier facilities for development and production ramp.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Optics, Mechatronics, or equivalent).
  • Experience in design, manufacturing, or integration of optomechanical products.
  • Ability to travel internationally.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience delivering products from concept to mass production meeting yield, reliability, and efficiency targets.
  • Understanding of camera system architecture (optics, system integration, image/depth sensors, ISP concepts).
  • Failure analysis knowledge (optical microscopy, X-ray, CT, SEM) and strong RCA/CAPA skills.
  • Understanding of compact module processes: sensor attachment, flex attachment, active alignment, etc.
  • Knowledge of geometric optics and image quality evaluation (charts, algorithms, lighting conditions).
  • Proficiency in electronic circuit/system design including power delivery and signal integrity.
  • Experience designing highly constrained, high-volume systems with multiple optomechanical modules.

Pay Range (Base Pay)

Apple lists the base pay range for this role as: $147,400 – $272,100 per year.
